Our industry is and has been extremely frustrated working with Clark County. The good news is I believe we are in the midst of a unique opportunity.
Leaders from both the private sector and public sector are uniting to seek improvements. This is the first time in my career that we have seen a unified focus by all parties to improve in such a wholesale manner.
I have recently taken on a leadership position within our local Building Industry Association. I am chairing a group representing the Builders. We are excited to get the Builders together to help Clark County improve. With their improvement comes our improvement.
Recently, Clark County hired a consulting group that produced a document called Citygate.
Citygate is a detailed report recommending strategies for improvement. This will be a terrific guide in helping all of us to get better.
All builders (small, medium and large) are very interested in seeing improvement. All of the vendors and trades that I have spoken to feel the same. I feel real momentum from both the private and public sectors.
I think we all have lost our way. We have gotten away from listening and understanding others perspectives. Good face to face communications is a lost art. I plan on making this a priority.
If we can focus on building long lasting relationships that believe in win/win scenarios then maybe in the future we will have it better for the next generation of builders.
I hope this helps and thank you for reading the newspaper.
